Gospel musician Obaapa Christy has shared her thoughts on the recent controversy surrounding Rev. Fr. Peter Kusi Twumasi’s performance of King Paluta’s secular song “Aseda” in church. In an interview on Hitz FM’s U Say Wetin, Obaapa Christy cautioned that such incidents can lead to misunderstandings if not handled carefully.
“Singing King Paluta’s song doesn’t reflect on my character,” she said, emphasizing the importance of personal values and internal reflection. “Everyone will have their opinions on everything. It’s important to reflect internally and be confident in what you’re doing. God loves us all, regardless of the type of music we enjoy.”
Obaapa Christy’s comments come after Rev. Fr. Twumasi apologized for performing the secular song during a church service, admitting that he had allowed secular elements into a sacred space and expressing regret for any offense caused.
“I sincerely apologize for my actions. I allowed secular elements into our church space, which was not my intention. I understand that my actions may have caused confusion and hurt, and for that, I am truly sorry,” Rev. Fr. Twumasi stated.
