NPA Revokes Licenses of 13 Oil Marketing Companies
- NPA has revoked the licenses of 13 OMCs
- The debts are totaling over GH₵200 million
- Riverson emphasized the sensitive nature of the industry
The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has revoked the licenses of 13 Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) due to their failure to settle debts owed to industry regulators.
These debts, totaling over GH₵200 million, stem from unpaid levies and margins collected on petroleum products.
The Association of Oil Marketing Companies’ Chief Executive, Riverson Oppong, urged the NPA to pursue the directors of these companies.
He emphasized the sensitive nature of the industry and the importance of ensuring all parties comply with regulations.
Oppong revealed that the NPA has the names of the directors of these companies. He advocated for making these names public to remove bad operators from the industry.
He also noted that some directors of the indebted OMCs are operating other companies in the industry, raising questions about their motivations.
Oppong announced that measures have been implemented to prevent such debts from accumulating in the future.
