England and Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has attributed his success to the tough love of his father.
Walker, a six-time Premier League champion and a Champions League winner, has enjoyed a glittering career.
In an interview on the “You’ll Never Beat Kyle Walker” podcast, the 34-year-old opened up about the influence his father, Michael, has had on his career.
Walker said his father “made me the person and player that I am.”
Early in his career, Walker sought to prove his father wrong after facing criticism for his performances.
He recalled his dislike for going to football matches with his father, as he would often receive negative feedback regardless of his performance.
“He didn’t do it because he wanted to hurt me. He did it because he cared,” Walker explained.
