A war of words has erupted between two veteran actresses in the Ghanaian film industry, with Christiana Awuni launching a scathing attack on Portia Asare. Awuni accused Asare of being unfriendly, disrespectful, and arrogant on set, contradicting Asare’s recent complaints about the attitude of younger actors.
“Hypocrisy is when you accuse others of what you yourself are guilty of,” Awuni said, addressing Asare’s comments about the industry’s struggles. “Portia’s conduct on set has often been arrogant, and her unfriendly demeanor has isolated her from others.”
Awuni also criticized Asare for speaking negatively about the Ghanaian film industry in interviews, calling it “unfortunate” for someone who gained fame and exposure from the same industry. “It’s unfortunate for someone who has benefited from the industry to speak negatively about it,” Awuni said. “Her behavior is contributing to the decline of the already struggling film sector.”
Awuni warned that speaking negatively about the industry could result in “doom” for Asare’s career. The public spat has sparked conversations about professionalism and respect within the Ghanaian entertainment industry, with fans and colleagues weighing in on the issue.
Awuni’s comments come in response to Asare’s claims that “juju” (black magic), selfishness, and wickedness among actors have contributed to the struggling state of Ghana’s movie industry, particularly Kumawood.
