A Brazilian police investigation into allegations of domestic abuse against Manchester United winger Antony has concluded without charges being filed.
However, prosecutors may still decide to pursue the case.
The 24-year-old, who denies wrongdoing, remains under investigation by Greater Manchester Police.
Last year, three women accused Antony of domestic abuse, but he has not been arrested or charged in either Brazil or the UK.
Antony’s lawyers issued a statement confirming that the Brazilian police investigation was closed without any indictment.
They asserted that the investigation would ultimately prove Antony’s innocence.
While the police investigation has concluded, Brazilian officials told BBC News Brasil that the case remains open, as the prosecutor’s office is still reviewing it and may choose to conduct an independent investigation.
Antony joined Manchester United from Ajax for £82 million in September 2022, becoming the club’s second-most expensive signing.
In September 2023, Brazilian news outlet UOL published allegations made by Antony’s ex-partner, Gabriela Cavallin.
He vehemently denies these allegations.
Two more women, Rayssa de Freitas and Ingrid Lana, also accused Antony of assault in 2022. He denies these allegations as well.
Greater Manchester Police became involved as one of the alleged incidents was said to have occurred at a Manchester hotel.
Manchester United took the allegations “seriously” and granted Antony leave with full pay to address the matter. He resumed training after speaking to Greater Manchester Police voluntarily and returned to action in early October.
However, his club manager, Erik ten Hag, acknowledged in January that the allegations had affected Antony’s form.
