John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has revealed why he believes President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is hesitant to hand over power to him if he wins the 2024 general elections. According to Mahama, Akufo-Addo is aware that his “corrupt acts” will not be shielded if the NDC wins the elections.
Mahama stated that Akufo-Addo is fighting against handing over to him because he knows that Mahama will not protect his legacy of mismanagement, corruption, state capture, and inflicting hardship and poverty on Ghanaians. Mahama’s statement comes after Akufo-Addo declared that he could not hand over to someone he defeated twice in the elections.
Akufo-Addo made this statement while addressing supporters at a mini rally in Doboro in the Greater Accra region. The President claimed that his successor would destroy the work he has done, and therefore urged supporters to vote for Dr. Bawumia, his preferred candidate.
