Dana White Sees Aspinall vs. Jones Showdown
- Aspinall has repeatedly expressed his desire to face Jones
- White confirmed the UFC's commitment
- Aspinall has been overlooked for the next title shot
UFC President Dana White believes a heavyweight title fight between Tom Aspinall and Jon Jones will materialize if Jones successfully defeats Stipe Miocic in his comeback bout.
Aspinall, the interim heavyweight champion, has repeatedly expressed his desire to face Jones.
Despite defending his interim title, Aspinall has been overlooked for the next title shot due to the previously scheduled fight between Jones and Miocic.
“I believe that fight happens if Jon Jones beats Stipe,” White stated in a press conference. “Dislike him or not, there’s no way Jon Jones doesn’t want to fight Aspinall.”
Aspinall has won his last three fights by first-round knockout, while Miocic, a two-time heavyweight champion, has not fought since 2021. Jones, 37, has hinted at retirement if he defeats Miocic.
The heavyweight match-up is anticipated to take place later this year, with UFC events scheduled for November 16 at Madison Square Garden and December 7 in Las Vegas.
Regarding his future, Jones suggested that a lucrative offer from the UFC could entice him to continue fighting.
White confirmed the UFC’s commitment to making the Aspinall vs. Jones fight happen.
Jones, a two-weight champion, is widely regarded as one of the greatest UFC fighters of all time, despite a controversial history involving doping suspensions and other incidents.
