Korle Bu Hospital to Expedite Clearance of Renal Consumables at Tema Port

Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has promised to swiftly clear the renal consumables currently held up at Tema port. This assurance comes as renal patients at the hospital have threatened to stage a protest on Wednesday, August 21, due to the delay in receiving these essential supplies.

The shortage of these critical items has already led to the temporary closure of the renal unit for three weeks, impacting patient care.

Mustapha Salifu, the hospital’s Public Relations Officer, stated on Monday, August 19, that efforts are being made to resolve the issue promptly and resume normal services.

“We have apologized multiple times for this inconvenience and urge patients to remain patient,” Salifu said. “The Ministry of Health has committed to clearing the supplies soon. We ask for continued cooperation while we work to clear the port and restore operations.”

Baffuor Kojo Ahenkorah, spokesperson for the renal patients, has urged the hospital to follow through on its promises and expedite the clearance process.

“We hope the hospital will fulfill its assurances and clear the containers promptly,” Ahenkorah said. “We are asking for clear communication by Wednesday to understand the situation better.”
