A violent clash between Form Two and Form Three students at Assin Nsuta Agricultural Senior High School in the Central Region has left several students injured, with five currently hospitalized. The incident occurred on campus, resulting in a chaotic scene that required police intervention to restore order.
According to the Assemblyman for Assin Nsuta-Bepokokoo Electoral Area, Bashiru Kwame Amakrah, the conflict began when a Form Three student was caught in a compromising position with a Form One student in an uncompleted building on campus. This incident sparked a chain reaction of events that ultimately led to the violent clash.
Sources close to the school revealed that the Form Three student involved in the incident reacted aggressively when confronted by a Form Two student who witnessed the encounter. The Form Three student allegedly slapped the Form Two student, which was seen as a provocation.
Three days after the initial incident, the Form Two students mobilized and launched a retaliatory attack on the Form Three students. The situation quickly escalated into a free-for-all brawl, with students using clubs and knives against each other.
The violence continued unabated until the police intervened to restore order on campus. The timely intervention of the police prevented further injuries and damage to school property.
Mr. Amakrah, who spoke to the media about the incident, expressed concern about the level of violence and the destruction of school property. He confirmed that five students were hospitalized, while several others sustained minor injuries.
The Assistant Headmaster in charge of Administration was also injured in the melee. The headmaster took some students to the police station to seek a medical form for hospital treatment.
Mr. Amakrah noted that the relationship between the Form Three student and the Form One student was at the center of the conflict. He emphasized the need for students to focus on their studies rather than engaging in inappropriate behavior.
The incident has raised concerns about discipline and safety in schools. The authorities are expected to take measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
The school is working to restore normalcy and ensure that students can continue their studies in a safe and conducive environment. The incident serves as a reminder of the need for vigilance and proactive measures to prevent conflicts in schools.
