The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has launched its manifesto for the 2024 general elections, with Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin hailing it as the hope for Ghana’s future. Afenyo-Markin emphasized that the NPP’s manifesto is built on the track record of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s eight years in office.

He contrasted the NPP’s vision with that of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), saying the latter has not presented anything new or visionary. Afenyo-Markin acknowledged that times are difficult under the NPP administration but argued that the party has implemented transformative policies.

He urged NPP foot soldiers to work together to deliver victory for the party in the 2024 elections. Prior to Afenyo-Markin’s comments, President Akufo-Addo appealed to NPP members to market the Bawumia-Opoku Prempeh ticket for the 2024 elections.

Akufo-Addo expressed optimism about the NPP’s chances, saying he expects “sweet news” of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s victory in the presidential elections. Dr. Bawumia, the NPP flagbearer, acknowledged the challenging times Ghana has faced but expressed relief and optimism at clear signs of economic recovery.

Bawumia noted that despite improvements, many households still grapple with a high cost of living, and he committed to addressing this challenge as president. Bawumia also pledged to create more job opportunities, building on the NPP’s record of creating 2.3 million jobs, the most of any government in the Fourth Republic.
