Recent revelations have uncovered that four of Ghana’s most notable musicians share familial connections, despite their distinct paths and complex relationships within the industry.
King Promise and KiDi
The connection between King Promise and KiDi came to light during an episode of “United Showbiz.” It was disclosed that the two artists are cousins. The revelation followed a dispute in which King Promise’s management requested the removal of his verse from KiDi’s popular track, “Enjoyment.”
Despite this incident, their familial bond endures. After a joint performance, King Promise publicly acknowledged their relationship, posting on social media:
“Big love, cousin! I remember when we began this music journey, like yesterday! Proud of you, like you are of me!”
While both artistes have developed individual careers, their familial connection remains a significant aspect of their lives. Despite sharing a family background, their musical styles are notably different, and they have collaborated on only a few projects, partially due to past disagreements.
Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy
A surprising familial link was also revealed between dancehall giants Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy. Known for their rivalry, few are aware that the two are actually related. This detail was disclosed by Shatta Wale’s mother, Elsie Avemegah, during a 2019 interview on Peace FM.
Madam Elsie revealed that Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy are cousins, both coming from the Ahiableh family. She noted that although neither artist may be aware of their connection, Stonebwoy’s mother is her aunt, thus making the two artistes family.
“Both of them are not aware, but I know that Stonebwoy’s biological mother is my auntie. I am from the Ahiableh family, and Stonebwoy’s uncle is Ahiableh, and my grandfather is Ahiableh. So they are related, and they both don’t know,” she shared.
Despite their shared lineage, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy are often seen as rivals in the music industry. Their ongoing feuds have overshadowed their familial connection.
