Bawumia Accuses Mahama of Avoiding Debate Due to NPP’s Superior Track Record
- Bawumia highlighted that the NPP's performance in various sectors surpasses that of Mahama and his party
- Bawumia pointed out that as a former president and a student of history
- Bawumia implied that Mahama’s avoidance may also be due to a lack of confidence
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, has criticized John Dramani Mahama, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, for evading a presidential debate ahead of the 2024 elections.
During the NPP’s manifesto launch in Takoradi on August 18, Bawumia claimed that Mahama’s avoidance stems from the NPP’s exceptional performance in various sectors, which outshines Mahama’s own track record.
Bawumia argued that Mahama, a former president and history enthusiast, is aware of the NPP’s achievements and thus hesitates to engage in a debate.
He suggested that Mahama’s reluctance also reflects a lack of confidence and courage to present his own vision and plans for Ghana in comparison to Bawumia’s clear roadmap for the country.
Bawumia emphasized, “Our data shows that our overall performance and track record surpass those of my opponent and his party in nearly every sector. As a former president and a student of history, Mahama is undoubtedly aware of this, which is why he is avoiding the debate.
Additionally, his hesitance may stem from a lack of confidence in presenting his vision alongside mine for the upcoming election on December 7.”
