22-Year-Old Man Detained for Murder Following Fatal Triple Stabbing

A 22-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of murder following a brutal triple stabbing that resulted in one woman’s death and severe injuries to two other individuals in Gorton.
Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene on Barnard Road around 11:20 p.m. on Sunday after receiving numerous alarmed calls from the public.
Armed police and paramedics discovered that a 17-year-old girl, a 43-year-old woman, and a 64-year-old man had all been stabbed, according to Greater Manchester Police.
Unfortunately, the 43-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The 17-year-old girl and the 64-year-old man are currently hospitalized with life-threatening conditions.
Authorities have arrested a 22-year-old man, who is believed to have had prior connections with the victims. The police consider the incident to be isolated.
The suspect is now in custody while investigators continue their inquiries. A police cordon remains in effect on Barnard Road, where forensic teams are examining the area, with three forensic tents set up—two outside a residence and one on the street.
Detective Superintendent Toby Facey expressed the community’s shock and sadness, stating, “We understand that this tragic news will be deeply upsetting for both local residents and those across Greater Manchester. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families during this challenging time.”
Facey emphasized the swift response by officers and ongoing efforts to uncover the details of the incident. He urged anyone with information, particularly those with dashcam footage from the vicinity of Barnard Road around 11 p.m., to come forward to assist in the investigation.
