According to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, exhibits unhidden arrogance. Mahama’s comments were prompted by a recent video where Dr. Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, referred to President Mills as “the one who died,” seemingly forgetting his name.

Addressing the issue at a community engagement in the Akatsi North of the Volta Region, Mahama condemned Dr. Prempeh’s comments as uncalled for and disrespectful to President Mills’ memory. Mahama emphasized that Dr. Prempeh’s arrogance is evident, citing the video where he struggled to recall President Mills’ name.

He likened arrogance to pregnancy, stating that it will eventually manifest regardless of attempts to conceal it. Mahama expressed disappointment in Dr. Prempeh’s disrespectful language, particularly towards a deceased individual who cannot respond.

He emphasized the importance of respecting the dead, as they are unable to defend themselves against insults. Mahama contrasted Dr. Prempeh’s behavior with his own experience, noting that he can respond to insults directed towards him.

He reiterated that Dr. Prempeh’s comments were unacceptable and demonstrated a lack of respect for the deceased president. Mahama’s remarks highlight the ongoing political tensions between the NDC and NPP ahead of the upcoming elections.
