Agbodza Warns Acheampong Against Election Rigging
- Agbodza criticized Bryan Acheampong’s alleged threats to rig the 2024 elections
- He cautioned security personnel and others planning to disrupt the elections in the Volta Region
- Agbodza highlighted the previous violence during the 2020 elections
Governs Kwame Agbodza, the Minority Chief Whip and MP for Adaklu, has issued a strong warning to Dr. Bryan Acheampong, the MP for Abetifi, advising him against any attempts to manipulate the 2024 elections.
During a speech in Adaklu with NDC flagbearer John Mahama, Agbodza declared that the opposition will not tolerate any efforts to compromise the election’s integrity.
He referred to the violence of the 2020 elections, which led to eight deaths, and emphasized that any recurrence in 2024 will be unacceptable.
“The current president seems to have lost control, allowing certain individuals within his administration to threaten the nation’s peace and security. I’m specifically addressing my colleague, Bryan Acheampong, who has ominously suggested attempts to rig the elections.
“My message is clear: just as you failed in your aggressive attempt to seize SSNIT’s hotels, you will also fail if you try to manipulate the elections by force.”
Agbodza also warned security personnel and others against any actions that might disrupt the election in the Volta Region, stating that they would face strong self-defence measures and could become victims themselves.
“This is Adaklu—do not even consider jeopardizing the lives of Ghanaians here. Intimidation will not be tolerated. Your party will lose, and you will be the first to flee. President Mahama will win, and President Akufo-Addo will have to hand over power. Your party has no right to cling to power.
“They are plotting to repeat the violence of 2020 by orchestrating the deaths of Ghanaians during the election—a strategy never seen before.
“If you are a security official or anyone planning to enter the Volta Region with the intent to disrupt, be ready for self-defence. You might end up being the victim. This is a promise, not a threat.”
