NPP Accuses NDC of Policy Theft

The National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has criticized the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for allegedly adopting policies first introduced by the NPP.

Mustapha’s remarks follow the NDC’s recent pledge to cover tuition fees for all first-year tertiary students should they win the upcoming elections.

Speaking Accra-based FM monitored by Kumasi.city, Mustapha contended that the NDC is simply recycling proposals initially put forward by the NPP. He pointed out that the NDC’s new policy echoes statements previously made by Vice President Bawumia.

While Mustapha acknowledged that imitation can sometimes be flattering, he expressed doubts about the NDC’s ability to implement these policies effectively. He noted that existing initiatives, such as the Ghana Student Loan Trust, suggest the NDC’s promise lacks originality.

Mustapha further labeled the NDC’s proposal as a “vote-buying gimmick” and questioned the authenticity of their commitment.

His comments have ignited a lively debate regarding political integrity and the ownership of policy ideas as Ghana approaches its elections.
