IHS Towers and MTN Group have solidified their long-standing partnership by renewing and extending communications infrastructure deals across multiple African markets.
The companies announced on Tuesday that they have successfully completed the renewal of approximately 26,000 MTN tenancies on IHS Towers infrastructure in six countries: Nigeria, Rwanda, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Zambia, and South Africa.
The renewed contracts, including a significant deal in Nigeria, extend until December 2032 and feature new financial terms designed to promote sustainability.
Both companies expressed satisfaction with the outcome, emphasizing the importance of this partnership in driving digital inclusion across Africa.
However, while celebrating the commercial achievements, the companies acknowledged ongoing governance issues.
IHS Towers Chairman & CEO Sam Darwish stated, “We are proud to have completed the renewal of all tenancies with MTN Group.” He further emphasized the company’s commitment to operational stability and collaboration for the benefit of end-users.
MTN Group President and CEO Ralph Mupita echoed these sentiments, highlighting the positive impact of the renewals on MTN’s operations.
