The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has announced a collaboration with the Ministry of Roads and Highways aimed at upgrading road conditions leading to tourist destinations across the country.
This initiative comes in response to visitor complaints about poor road conditions, particularly during the rainy season.
Akwasi Agyeman, CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, assured the public that efforts are underway to enhance tourism infrastructure in the near future.
He acknowledged that significant improvements are needed, especially in maintaining access routes during adverse weather conditions.
“We are in ongoing discussions with other agencies to better tourism infrastructure. Many complaints arise during the rainy season when road conditions deteriorate,” Agyeman explained. “We are working with the Ministry of Roads to ensure that the final stretches leading to tourist sites are improved.”
Agyeman also highlighted that nearly 600,000 tourists visited Ghana in the first half of 2024, indicating a promising year for the tourism sector.
