Fisherman’s Body Found After Anloga Canoe Disaster
- A fishing canoe capsized near Anloga, resulting in the death of one fisherman

A fisherman, who was one of five men whose canoe capsized near Atsugbor in the Anloga District, has been found dead on the shores of Adzido in the Keta Municipality.
Mr. Christopher Mensah, the Assembly Member for the Vodza-Adzido Electoral Area, informed journalists that the body was discovered on Friday, August 9, around 8:30 a.m.
“I received reports on Friday about the body of a young man that had washed ashore in our area. I had asked my Unit Committee members to investigate the incident,” Mensah said.
The deceased had been fishing with four others between Ada and Anloga when their canoe capsized, resulting in his death. Chief fisherman Dzava Dzage from Vodza confirmed that the body was identified by the survivors as their missing colleague.
A team including Togbi Nene Kpewu from Ada and Agbotadua Nene Abraham from Tema were also involved in the identification. Dzage noted that the Keta Police were notified, and the body was transported to the Keta Municipal Hospital Morgue for an examination and autopsy.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at approximately 11:45 a.m., left one fisherman missing after the canoe accident. Four of the fishermen were rescued.
