Bournemouth are on the brink of securing a club-record deal to bring Brazilian striker Evanilson to the Vitality Stadium.
The Cherries have agreed to pay Porto a fee of £40.2 million, with an additional £8.5 million in potential add-ons.
The 24-year-old forward has been a target for Bournemouth for some time, with the club also considering a move for Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah.
However, it appears that a bid for Evanilson has been accepted, and the player is expected to undergo a medical later today.
Bournemouth owner Bill Foley had previously indicated that the club had contingency plans in place should Dominic Solanke’s release clause be triggered.
Solanke subsequently joined Tottenham in a deal worth up to £65 million.
Evanilson has represented Brazil at international level, earning his first two caps this year.
He joined Porto in 2020 and enjoyed a successful campaign last season, scoring 17 goals across the Portuguese league and Champions League.
The transfer would surpass Bournemouth’s previous record signing, Jefferson Lerma, who joined the club from Levante for £25 million in 2018.
