Curfew Extended in Bawku as Tensions Persist

The Interior Minister, Henry Quartey, has officially extended the curfew for Bawku Municipality and surrounding areas in the Upper East Region through an Executive Instrument.
The revised curfew hours will be from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am, beginning Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
The government urges Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and residents to remain calm amid ongoing challenges and to engage in peaceful, non-violent methods to promote stability.
Additionally, there is a strict prohibition on carrying any arms, ammunition, or offensive weapons within the affected areas. Individuals found in possession of such items will face arrest and prosecution, according to a statement from the Interior Ministry issued on August 13.
