Ghanaian music icon Emmanuel Andrews Samini, popularly known as Samini, is stepping into the spotlight as an actor in the highly anticipated film The Storm. Directed by Ben Owusu, the movie will have its premiere at the Silverbird Cinemas on September 21 and 22, 2024, in Kumasi.

In The Storm, Samini takes on the role of Ali Zafara, the formidable head of the Southern Crime underworld. His character is depicted as stern, unfeeling, and highly esteemed within the criminal realm.

The film also boasts a stellar cast including Ama K. Abebrese, Adjetey Anang, Fiifi Coleman, Salma Mumin, Edward Agyakum Kufuor, and Luckie Lawson. The Storm is a Ghanaian thriller that delves into the dark side of Accra, exploring themes of crime, murder, kidnapping, and corruption, while highlighting the struggle for justice.

The narrative centers on the impact of gangsters on Accra, portraying a city grappling with the severe consequences of criminal activities. In contrast to the criminal elements, Adjetey Anang and Ama K. Abebrese play Detectives Danso and Lynn, respectively, representing integrity within the law enforcement team. Additionally, Luckie Lawson’s character, Milly, is a passionate social advocate dedicated to protecting young people and fighting injustice. Her advocacy unexpectedly catapults her to fame, positioning her as a rival to President Edward Agyekum Kufuor.
