OSP’s Airbus Report Boosts Mahama’s Election Prospects – Ohene Ntow

Story Highlights
  • Ohene Ntow believes that the OSP’s report could positively impact Mahama's chances in the upcoming elections
  • He expressed surprise at the OSP's conclusions
  • The OSP report clears Mahama of any wrongdoing

Nana Ohene Ntow, a prominent figure in the Movement for Change, has suggested that the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) report clearing John Mahama of any corruption related to the Airbus scandal could work in favor of the former president as the general elections approach.

The OSP’s report concluded that Mahama was not involved in any corrupt activities or bribery regarding the acquisition of three military aircraft from Airbus.

The investigation also found that Mahama did not misuse his positions as Vice President or President for corrupt purposes between 2009 and 2015, and no public officials linked to the deal were implicated in corruption.

The report further indicated that there was no evidence suggesting that Samuel Adam Mahama, the former President’s brother, or other agents involved with Airbus received any undue favors from Mahama or acted as intermediaries for bribes.

In a statement, Nana Ohene Ntow argued that the OSP’s findings, which portray Mahama as incorruptible, could enhance his appeal in the December elections.

He noted that had the report implicated Mahama in corruption, it might have negatively affected his campaign with the election so close.

Ntow also expressed surprise that the OSP’s conclusions differed from those reached by courts in the United Kingdom and the United States concerning the same case.
