Mahama Vows to Ensure Accountability for NDC Officials Misusing Their Power

John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has committed to ensuring that his administration remains transparent and accountable if he is elected.

At a town hall meeting on August 12, Mahama underscored the critical role of accountability for those in public office, asserting that officials must be prepared to justify their actions.

He made it clear that anyone seeking to exploit their position for personal gain should reconsider their career path and opt for the private sector instead.

“If anyone aims to enter government solely for financial gain, they should instead pursue opportunities in the private sector,” Mahama stated.

“We can support you in setting up a business, like a cassava processing plant, which would also create jobs. But once you are in public office, you must be ready to face scrutiny.”

Mahama also acknowledged the difficulties associated with prosecuting members of his own party or administration but emphasized the importance of holding everyone accountable to combat corruption effectively.
