Former US President Barack Obama has released his highly anticipated 2024 summer playlist, showcasing a dynamic mix of global and local musical talent.
The playlist includes standout tracks from Nigeria’s emerging stars Tems and Rema. Tems’ soulful hit “Love Me Jeje” from her debut album makes an appearance, highlighting her emotional depth and unique style. Rema’s “Yayo,” from his acclaimed sophomore album Rave & Roses, also features prominently. The single has garnered significant attention, with over 60 million streams on Spotify and topping the charts in Greece.
Obama shared the playlist on his X account, stating, “As summer winds down, I’m excited to share some of my recent favorite tunes – and, as always, I’ve curated an eclectic mix. I hope you discover something new to enjoy!”
In addition to Tems and Rema, the playlist includes Charli XCX’s “365,” Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em,” Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby,” “Wanna Be” by Glorilla & Megan Thee Stallion, Billie Eilish’s “CHIHIRO,” and classic tracks like 2Pac’s “How Do U Want It” featuring K-Ci & JoJo and Bob Dylan’s “Silvio.”
During a recent interview with influencer Carter Gregory (thecarterb), Obama disclosed that his daughters, Sasha and Malia, are instrumental in keeping his musical tastes fresh. “I get referrals from my daughters — which keeps me not stuck in the ’80s,” Obama noted.
