Akufo-Addo Thanks Otumfuo as he Prepares to Leave Office
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed his immense gratitude to the 16th Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as he prepares to wrap up his tenure as the country’s fifth President in the Fourth Republic.
He stands indebted to the King for the unflinching support and warm reception he gave him in the almost eight years he has been in Office.
President Akufo-Addo took advantage of a meeting with His Majesty purposely to introduce the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 Presidential Election to express his gratitude.
He implored the King to be gracious to their candidates with the same reception.
“I pray the two will enjoy the warm reception you gave me in my tenure. I thank you for the good relationship we shared and how well you received me during my tenure. You were of immense help to measure. I will set aside a time to come and show my appreciation.”
President Akufo-Addo on July 9, 2024, introduced the NPP’s ticket for the 2024 Presidential Election to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace.
He led a contingent made up of executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ministers, Members of Parliament and party supporters to the Palace following the approval of Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the Running Mate of their flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Among the delegation were the National Chairman of the party, Stephen Ayensu Ntim, the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the Chief of Staff of the President, Hon Akosua Fremah Opare and the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako.
President Akufo-Addo will end his tenure on January 7, 2025.
