West Ham defender Kurt Zouma’s proposed transfer to United Arab Emirates side Shabab Al-Ahli has hit a stumbling block after the French international failed a medical.
The 29-year-old had traveled to Dubai to finalize a lucrative deal but will now return to England as his representatives explore alternative options.
Zouma still has a year remaining on his contract with the Hammers.
West Ham have already strengthened their defensive options this summer with the signings of Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice and Max Kilman from Wolves.
The club paid a combined £74.22m for the two central defenders.
Zouma joined West Ham from Chelsea in 2021 for £29m and has made 103 appearances for the club, captaining the side for a period last season.
