Man Dies in Suspected Suicide at Kasoa

A 35-year-old man, Sabbatain Akwasi Kanyettey, also known as Gateytey, has reportedly taken his own life by hanging at Kasoa Blue Kiosk in the Awutu Senya East Municipality, Central Region.
Initial reports reveal that the man went to bed on the night of Sunday, August 4, 2024, but was later discovered dead in his room.
He was found with a rope tied around his neck, lying on his side with his head on the floor, and blood present at the scene.
According to police, it appears the deceased attempted to hang himself from a ceiling fan hook but fell, hitting his head on the ground during the struggle.
Jerome, the deceased’s brother, informed the media that the man had recently expressed concerns about being haunted by spirits. The deceased was a former Division 2 footballer who had transitioned to working as a tiler.
The Kasoa Divisional Police Command has transported the body to the morgue for an autopsy.
In response to the tragedy, Hon. Habbib Abdulai, Assemblyman for Opeikuma-Kumbe-Krispocity, urged the youth to seek alternatives to suicide when facing difficulties.
Additionally, Nana Okoboaman II, the Odzikro of Gomoa Kumbey, condemned the rising suicide rates in the community and called for efforts to address this issue.
