Renowned Ghanaian comedian and actor, Kalybos, has made a shocking revelation about the role of “juju” (voodoo) in his first car accident, echoing concerns raised by actress Portia Asare about the influence of juju in the Kumawood industry.
In a personal account, Kalybos claimed that his accident, which occurred in 2019, was not a mere coincidence. He recounted an unsettling encounter with an upcoming Kumawood actor who confronted him about filming in Kumasi. The actor expressed resentment that actors from Accra were taking over roles in Kumasi, leaving local actors sidelined, and challenged Kalybos to continue his work and see if he could avoid harm.
Shortly after this confrontation, Kalybos was involved in an accident on the Kumasi road near Nkawkaw, while on his way to a movie premiere. The crash left his new Dodge Charger severely damaged, but fortunately, Kalybos and the other passengers survived.
Kalybos’ account has sparked discussions about the alleged use of ‘juju’ within the Kumawood industry, further supporting claims that the practice is causing harm and division among actors.
