Fifi Kwetey Calls Out NPP’s NABCO Initiative as a ‘419’ Scheme

Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has strongly criticized the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) program initiated by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration. Speaking at the launch of the NDC’s Youth manifesto on Monday, August 12, at the UPSA Auditorium in Accra, Kwetey described NABCO as a “419 program”.

He suggested that NABCO was a scam designed to win citizens’ votes rather than create jobs and ensure genuine progress in the country. Kwetey emphasized that the NDC’s approach to policy-making prioritizes progress over political gain.

He noted that while anyone can develop policies, the difference between the NDC and the governing party is that the NDC focuses on policies that promote progress. Kwetey claimed that the NDC’s upcoming policies would restore hope to Ghanaians, particularly the youth, whose hopes have been crushed due to economic challenges.

He stressed that the NDC’s policies would be designed to give hope and prosperity to young people, unlike the NPP’s policies, which he believes are designed solely to win votes. Kwetey’s comments come as the NDC prepares to unveil its policy plans, which he promises will be focused on progress and the well-being of Ghanaians.

The NDC’s flagbearer is expected to elaborate on the party’s plans to address the economic challenges facing the country and provide hope to young people. Kwetey’s criticism of NABCO and the NPP’s approach to policy-making highlights the sharp divide between the two parties as they prepare for the next election.
