- Tamekloe described Acheampong's comments as irresponsible
- Bryan Acheampong declared that the NPP would "do whatever it takes to win the elections
- Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, MP for Tamale Central, criticized Acheampong and other NPP leaders
Godwin Edudzi Tamekloe, the Director of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has condemned Bryan Acheampong, Member of Parliament for Abetifi, for his recent remarks suggesting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would go to any lengths to secure victory in the upcoming general elections.
Tameklo denounced Acheampong’s comments as irresponsible and urged Ghanaian voters to hold the NPP accountable at the polls.
During a campaign rally in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency, Acheampong, who also serves as the Food and Agriculture Minister, declared that the NPP would “do whatever it takes to win the elections” and emphasized the party’s diverse support base, which includes religious leaders and traditionalists. He stated, “Burn the sea if you don’t understand, we’ll win and continue with our good works.”
Acheampong’s assertion that the NPP is an unbeatable “election-winning machine” has sparked criticism from the opposition.
Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, MP for Tamale Central, accused Acheampong and other NPP leaders of making reckless statements and focusing on divisive tactics rather than addressing substantive issues during Dr. Bawumia’s campaign tour.
Murtala Mohammed also vowed, “Insha Allah, we will do everything possible to prevent the NPP from rigging this election.”
