Avatar 3, Star Wars, and Freaky Friday Sequels Announced at D23 Convention
At the biennial D23 convention in California, Disney enthusiasts were treated to a slew of thrilling announcements regarding upcoming films. The event, held from August 9 to 11, saw surprise appearances from prominent filmmakers and actors, including James Cameron, Jon Favreau, Lindsay Lohan, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Cameron revealed the title of the third Avatar installment, Avatar: Fire And Ash, slated for release on December 19, 2025. “The new film is not what you expect, but definitely what you want,” he teased, showcasing concept art featuring new cultures, settings, and creatures.
Meanwhile, Favreau announced a new Star Wars film, The Mandalorian And Grogu, starring Pedro Pascal, with production already underway. “We are putting Star Wars back on the big screen,” executive producer Dave Filoni confirmed.
Lohan and Curtis took the stage to promote Freakier Friday, the sequel to their 2003 comedy hit. The new film, set for 2025, promises to be “more fun and more emotional” than its predecessor. The duo confirmed Chad Michael Murray and Mark Harmon would reprise their roles in the sequel.
Additional announcements included The Incredibles 3, Frozen 3, and a fourth Toy Story installment, all slated for release in the coming years. The event concluded with a panel featuring Tom Hanks and the original creators of Toy Story, showcasing the film’s enduring impact and legacy.
