Nollywood actress and politician Tonto Dikeh has firmly denied recent reports suggesting that she was arrested by the Nigerian Police Force. According to Naija News, Dikeh was allegedly invited by the police to address issues related to criminal defamation, cyberbullying, and forgery.
In a statement posted on her Instagram page, Dikeh refuted the claims, asserting that she was neither arrested nor detained. She emphasized that no search or arrest warrants had been issued against her.
“I am in my house enjoying the goodness of God,” Dikeh stated. “Let me categorically state that I was not arrested, neither was I detained by the police or any law enforcement agency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
The actress further elaborated on her commitment to legal and ethical conduct, noting her role as a member of the diplomatic society. “I am a law-abiding citizen and in my position as a member of the diplomatic society I owe a higher duty to live above board in all I do,” she said. “Getting involved in crime and criminalities is not one of the things I can be involved in.”
Dikeh also addressed the rumors, clarifying that there has never been a search warrant, arrest warrant, or any other form of warrant issued against her. She urged those spreading false information to cease their actions.
“Whatever the rumor peddlers are up to, I really don’t care,” she continued. “My commitment is to the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a law-abiding citizen, and to this end, I will always honor invitations extended to me, whether to help law enforcement agencies in their job or to provide clarifications on issues.”
She concluded her statement by warning those behind the false narratives, “I will exercise my rights against anyone, persons, or group of persons who attempt to peddle fake stories about me or my brand or defame my character. I will come for you.”
Dikeh’s statement was issued in response to widespread speculation and is a firm rebuttal of the claims made against her.
