Rapper Travis Scott Arrested in Paris Hotel Altercation

Rapper Travis Scott was arrested on August 9, 2024, following an altercation at the luxurious George V hotel in central Paris, according to French authorities.

The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed that police were called to the hotel after Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, allegedly assaulted a security guard. The incident reportedly occurred when the security guard intervened in a confrontation between Scott and his bodyguard.

“The security guard had intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard,” stated the Paris prosecutor’s office. “The Paris public prosecutor’s office has referred the case to the 1st district of the judicial police.”

Scott, 33, was seen at the men’s Olympic basketball semifinal the previous day, where the U.S. team achieved a narrow 4-point victory to advance to the final.

The George V hotel, renowned for its Michelin-starred restaurants and located near Paris’s Champs-Élysées with views of the Eiffel Tower, is a high-profile venue where the incident took place.

Earlier in June, Scott was also arrested on a disorderly intoxication charge in Miami Beach, Florida, following an outburst on a yacht. His attorney described that incident as a “misunderstanding.”

As of now, Scott has not made any public statements regarding his recent arrest. The Associated Press has reached out to a representative for comment but has yet to receive a response.
