“I Regret Supporting Akufo-Addo” – Nero X

Ghanaian musician Nero X has publicly expressed his regret for endorsing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during the 2020 elections and has announced his support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.

In a recent statement, Nero X revealed that his shift in political allegiance was prompted by his assessment of the current administration’s performance compared to that of Mahama’s previous tenure. He admitted that despite his active involvement in the #4MoreForNana campaign, he is now dissatisfied with the outcomes of Akufo-Addo’s presidency.

“I campaigned for Akufo-Addo and supported the #4MoreForNana campaign, but after weighing it against Mahama’s government, I feel disappointed. Akufo-Addo asked us to be citizens, not spectators, so I am exercising my right to voice my concerns,” Nero X explained.

Nero X stressed that his decision to back Mahama is driven by his desire for effective leadership rather than mere party loyalty. He praised Mahama for his achievements in developing infrastructure, hospitals, and schools, which he believes were undervalued at the time.

“I regret voting for the NPP, and I feel I betrayed Mahama. That’s why I recorded a campaign song for him,” Nero X said. He further compared his assessment of the two administrations, giving Mahama’s government an 80% rating while attributing a 50% rating to Akufo-Addo’s.

Additionally, Nero X called for respect towards individuals’ political choices and urged the public to refrain from insulting or criticizing others based on their political affiliations, as long as their decisions comply with the law.
