Family of Late Singer Onyeka Onwenu Announces Burial Plans

The family of legendary singer Onyeka Onwenu has announced plans to bury her before the end of August, following her sudden demise last Tuesday.

Receiving a condolence visit from the Musical Society of Nigeria (MCSN) at their Ikoyi, Lagos residence, Onwenu’s sons, Abram and Tjiani, revealed their intention to respect their mother’s wishes by committing her remains to Mother Earth as soon as possible.

While no specific date has been announced, the family confirmed that the burial will take place before the end of the month, with arrangements to be announced in the coming days.

The MCSN delegation, led by Orits Wiliki, included notable figures such as King Sunny Ade, Tee Mac, Kenny Ogugbe, and Mayo Ayilaran.

Signing the condolence register, King Sunny Ade wrote: “Dear sister and colleague, may your gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Your fans and friends all over the world will remember you forever.”

Tee Mac, a flutist, promised to perform at the service of songs for the late singer.
