- Awaiting official commissioning by President Akufo-Addo.
- New facilities include ice plant, fish market, and clinic.
- Ghana Ports & Harbours Authority to begin operations after commissioning.
The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, has announced that the construction of the Jamestown Harbour is complete. The only remaining step is the official commissioning of the harbour by President Nana Akufo-Addo.
The Jamestown Fishing Harbour project, which began in August 2020, has undergone extensive work, including the dredging of 100,000 cubic meters of the harbour basin. Additionally, 1,251 meters of hydraulic structures have been constructed as part of the project.
According to Minister Glover, the project will bring numerous benefits to the local fishing community. The harbour now features an ice plant, fish market, clinic, day nursery, and net mending wharf for fishermen.
Glover explained that fishermen will be able to sell their catch at the harbour and store any unsold fish in the cold store for preservation. The minister emphasized the government’s goal of making fishing in Ga Mashie more accessible and beneficial to the people.

The only remaining step is for the president and Transport Minister Kwaku Ofori Asiamah to set a date for the commissioning. Once commissioned, the Ghana Ports & Harbours Authority (GPHA) staff will begin operations at the harbour, marking the official start of its operational phase.
