Greek pole vaulter Eleni-Klaoudia Polak has been provisionally suspended from the Paris Olympics following a positive doping test.

The 27-year-old, who competed in the qualifying round on Monday, has denied any wrongdoing, claiming that a banned substance found in her sample could have originated from contaminated red meat.

However, the International Olympic Committee has confirmed the suspension.

Polak’s case adds to a growing list of doping violations at the Paris Games.

Iraqi judoka Sajjad Sehen, Afghan judoka Mohammad Samim Faizad, and Nigerian boxer Cynthia Ogunsemilore have also tested positive for banned substances.

The Greek Olympic Committee has confirmed that a member of its team has been expelled from the athletes’ village, although they did not specify the individual involved.

The incident casts a shadow over the Games and raises concerns about the ongoing issue of doping in sports.
