The Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), John Kingsley Krugu, has announced that the authority has developed regulations to guide the control of noise pollution in Ghana. According to Krugu, the typical Ghanaian attitude has been to downplay the significance of noise pollution, but the EPA has taken steps to address this issue.
Krugu explained that this is the first time the EPA has developed regulations and standards to guide noise pollution control. He emphasized that the regulations were created in collaboration with other stakeholders and are awaiting the passage of a bill to become law.
Krugue stated that once the bill is passed, the regulations will be published to guide the public on how to deal with noise pollution issues. The EPA currently receives complaints about noise pollution and conducts assessments to provide guidance and prevent further pollution.
Krugue expressed confidence that the new regulations will enable the EPA to better regulate noise pollution. He highlighted the importance of addressing noise pollution, citing its impact on the environment and public health.
The development of these regulations demonstrates the EPA’s commitment to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development. Krugue’s announcement marks a significant step forward in Ghana’s efforts to address noise pollution and promote a healthier environment.
