British Zoologist Sentenced For Animal Abuse and Related Offenses

- Adam sentenced to 10 years and five months in prison
- He sexually abused dozens of dogs
- He pleaded guilty to 56 charges of bestiality
A British zoologist, Adam Britton, has been sentenced to 10 years and five months in prison in Australia for sexually abusing dozens of dogs and accessing child abuse material.
Britton, 53, pleaded guilty to 56 charges of bestiality and animal cruelty, as well as four counts of accessing child abuse material.
The Northern Territory Supreme Court heard that Britton filmed himself torturing animals, resulting in almost all of their deaths, and shared the videos online under pseudonyms.
He was arrested in April 2022 after a search of his property uncovered child abuse material on his laptop.
The court described Britton’s actions as “devious” and “sickeningly evident.” He will be eligible for parole in September 2028 and is banned from owning mammals for life.
Britton’s lawyer argued that his actions were driven by a rare disorder causing intense, atypical sexual interests.
Britton apologized for his crimes in a letter read in court, expressing deep regret for the pain and trauma caused to animals, his family, and the community.
The case has sparked calls for stronger animal cruelty penalties, with animal advocates expressing disappointment at the sentence but finding some solace in the outcome.
