“Blame Akufo-Addo for failing to develop Entertainment Industry, not Okraku-Mantey” – Baba Sadiq

- Baba Sadiq defends Deputy Tourism Minister Mark Okraku-Mantey against criticism
- He attributes the creative industry's slow progress to inadequate government support
- Baba Sadiq urges critics to direct their concerns to the President, not Okraku-Mantey
Entrepreneur and National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Okaikoi Central, Baba Sadiq, has called on entertainment industry stakeholders to shift their focus away from criticizing Deputy Tourism Minister Mark Okraku-Mantey. Sadiq made this appeal during an interview on Daybreak Hitz.
Sadiq attributed the slow progress in the creative industry to a lack of government support rather than shortcomings in Okraku-Mantey’s efforts. He emphasized that Okraku-Mantey’s impact is limited without backing from the President and broader governmental support.
“People should stop picking on Mark specifically because they have issues with him; they need to direct their concerns at the government. There is no strong will from the government to develop and enable the creative industry. The big vision, bold ideas, and initiatives are missing,” Sadiq remarked.
He further explained that as a deputy minister, Okraku-Mantey has limited power and stressed the importance of holding the President accountable for unmet promises. “He can’t do anything. He’s a deputy minister. People like to pick on him, but they should talk to the President directly. They should say, ‘Chief, in the past eight years, you’ve made twenty-one promises to us. You haven’t delivered on them.’”
“What is happening? Speak about these issues instead of blaming Mark for his inability to deliver,” Sadiq added.
