Nana Yaa Jantuah, former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has confidently predicted that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will be defeated in the upcoming presidential debate. She believes Dr. Bawumia lacks substantial messages to share during the debate due to his perceived failures as Vice President.
Nana Yaa Jantuah made these comments while discussing the Institute of Economic Affairs’ (IEA) presidential debate. She boldly stated, “Dr. Bawumia should go and debate Alan Kyerematen; Alan alone will floor him.”
Nana Yaa Jantuah questioned Dr. Bawumia’s decision to call for a debate, suggesting he is aware of his impending defeat. Meanwhile, Sophia Akuffo, a distinguished fellow at the IEA, emphasized the significance of the presidential debate in the 2024 general elections.
She explained that the debate provides a platform for candidates to detail their policies and demonstrate their credibility and competence. Sophia Akuffo highlighted the importance of vision, courage, and wisdom in addressing national challenges, which the debate aims to draw out.
The IEA has scheduled debates for October and November, featuring selected presidential candidates and their running mates ahead of the December 7 elections. The debates aim to establish the credibility and competence of candidates, enabling electorates to make informed decisions at the polls.
