Kwabena Owusu Aduomi Returns To NPP

- duomi ran as an Independent candidate in the Ejisu by-election
- Aduomi confirmed his unconditional return to the NPP after meeting council of elders
- Stephen Ntim had previously pledged to facilitate reconciliation efforts with Aduomi
Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, who recently ran unsuccessfully as an Independent candidate in the Ejisu by-election, has officially rejoined the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
This decision follows a reconciliation meeting with the NPP’s Ashanti Regional Council of Elders on August 5, 2024.
Aduomi’s independent candidacy came after his loss to Francis Kwabena Boateng in the Ejisu by-election held on April 30. This election was triggered by the death of the former MP, John Kumah.
Aduomi, a former three-term MP for the constituency, had chosen to run independently due to grievances with the NPP’s delegates list, which he felt undermined the party’s integrity.
His departure led to accusations of disloyalty from some within the NPP, with rumors suggesting a shift towards the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a statement released by the Ashanti Regional Council of Elders on August 6, Aduomi expressed his commitment to mending fences with the party. He confirmed his unconditional return, stating that his deep-rooted connection to the NPP remains unshaken. Aduomi also vowed to work on bringing his supporters back to the party fold.
Stephen Ntim, the National Chairman of the NPP, had earlier committed to facilitating a reconciliation process with Aduomi following the by-election.
