Daniel Ohene Agyekum, a former U.S. Ambassador during John Evans Atta Mills’ presidency, has condemned the Agyapadie document as a blatant scheme to monopolize Ghana’s resources.
He asserts that the document effectively consolidates the nation’s wealth into the hands of a few individuals. Despite President Nana Akufo-Addo’s denial of the document’s legitimacy, former President John Dramani Mahama believes its directives have been enacted.
In a press conference in Kumasi, Agyekum affirmed the document’s authenticity and denounced it as a nefarious plan orchestrated by a select group from Kyebi. He argued that the term “Akyem mafia” is a misnomer, suggesting that it is more accurately described as the “Kyebi mafia.”
Agyekum warned that the Agyapadie document sets a perilous precedent for Ghana’s future, characterizing it not just as an administrative guideline but as a strategic blueprint for the monopolization of the country’s resources by an elite few.
