A 30-year-old man has reportedly been attacked with a knife after a dispute over a GH₵5 debt.
The victim, known by the nickname Mama Mpe Hia, was stabbed in the neck following an argument with the attacker, identified as Adiyaa.
According to reports the incident took place in Jaman South.
The dispute began when Mama Mpe Hia refused to repay the GH₵5 he owed Adiyaa, despite repeated requests. The victim’s mockery and refusal to settle the debt escalated tensions.
On the day of the attack, after being taunted by the victim, Adiyaa allegedly confronted him and, in a fit of anger, pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the neck. The victim was urgently taken to Sunyani Government Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment for the severe injury.
The shocking event has left local residents in disbelief, as they grapple with the violent outcome of what began as a financial disagreement.
The suspect, who fled the scene, has been apprehended by the police but is reportedly uncooperative with the ongoing investigation.
Authorities are also considering the possibility that the suspect might be suffering from mental health issues.
