US Issues Urgent Travel Advisory: Citizens Advised To Depart Lebanon Immediately
The US embassy in Beirut has issued a urgent advisory, warning American citizens to leave Lebanon on the first available flight, as tensions in the Middle East continue to soar.
This warning comes on the heels of a similar alert from UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who cautioned that the regional situation could rapidly deteriorate.
The heightened tensions follow the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, which Iran blames on Israel.
This incident came just hours after Israel killed Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut, sparking fears of severe retaliation from Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Hezbollah launched a barrage of rockets at the northern Israeli town of Beit Hillel on Sunday, prompting Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system to intercept the attack. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
In response to the escalating situation, Jordan’s Foreign Ministry has also issued a travel warning, advising its citizens in Lebanon to depart immediately and cautioning others against traveling to the country.
The situation remains volatile, with concerns of further retaliation and potential Israeli response.
Citizens are advised to exercise extreme caution and heed the warnings issued by their respective governments.
