Health Minister Denies $34 Million Payment to Service Ghana Auto Group

Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, the Minister of Health, has confirmed that the Bank of Ghana has not disbursed any funds in connection with the $34 million ambulance spare parts contract with Service Ghana Auto Group Limited.

This clarification comes in response to accusations from North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. Ablakwa recently alleged that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and former Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman-Manu conspired with Service Ghana Auto Group Limited to defraud the government.

He also raised concerns about the deal being approved just days before Ofori-Atta left office and questioned the company’s credibility due to its recent establishment.

During his appearance before the Government Assurances Committee of Parliament on August 1, Dr. Okoe Boye denied the allegations.

He explained that according to a Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, no payment has been made yet.

The Deputy Governor clarified that a letter of credit is in place, but payments will only be made after the supplier delivers the required parts.
