EC Releases Guidelines for Independent Candidates to Obtain Nomination Forms
- EC releases passwords for independent presidential candidates.
- Passwords grant access to nomination forms on EC website.
- Candidates must visit EC office with introduction letter.
- Move aims to streamline nomination process.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has taken a significant step towards facilitating the participation of independent candidates in the upcoming 2024 December polls. In a statement released on Friday, August 2, the EC announced the availability of passwords for independent presidential candidates.
These passwords will enable the candidates to access the nomination forms on the EC’s website, a crucial step in the electoral process. The EC’s Deputy Chairman of Operations, Samuel Tettey, signed the statement, which outlined the procedures for obtaining the passwords.
According to the statement, prospective independent candidates are required to visit the EC’s head office in person. Upon arrival, they must present a letter of introduction addressed to the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa.
This letter serves as a formal request for the password, which will be provided to the candidate upon verification. The EC’s move is aimed at ensuring a seamless and transparent process for independent candidates to access the necessary forms.
By providing passwords, the EC is streamlining the process and reducing the risk of errors or delays. The nomination forms are a critical component of the electoral process, and the EC’s efforts will help ensure that all candidates, including independents, can participate fully in the 2024 polls.
