The Electoral Commission (EC) will commence nominations for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections on Monday, September 9, and will close on Friday, September 13.
This schedule adheres to Regulations 6, 7, and 9 of the 2020 Public Elections Regulations (C.I 127), as detailed in a press release from Thursday, August 1.
Nomination forms will be available for download on the EC’s website starting Friday, August 2.
The filing fee for presidential candidates is set at GH¢100,000. Female candidates and individuals with disabilities are eligible for a reduced fee of GH¢75,000. For parliamentary candidates, the fee is GH¢10,000, with a reduced rate of GH¢7,500 for female candidates and those with disabilities.
Nomination forms can be submitted between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon and from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm daily during the nomination period.
The statement specified that presidential candidates must pay GH¢100,000 by Banker’s draft to the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, while female candidates and persons with disabilities must pay GH¢75,000.
Similarly, parliamentary candidates should submit GH¢10,000 by Banker’s draft to the Returning Officer of their constituency, with a reduced fee of GH¢7,500 for female candidates and those with disabilities.

The EC also announced that independent candidates intending to run in the 2024 elections should contact the Commission to receive passcodes for downloading nomination forms.
