UHAS Receives Computer Donation from President Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo has made a significant contribution to the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) by donating laptops and desktop computers to the institution. This gesture is a personal donation from the President to support the university’s efforts in equipping its offices with modern technology.

The donation was made on Monday, July 29, after the university conferred a doctorate on President Akufo-Addo during a special congregation. This honor was in recognition of the President’s commitment to education and his contributions to the growth of UHAS.

The university’s management expressed gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for his unwavering support, citing his introduction of free senior high school education and STEM programs as transformative initiatives in the country’s education sector. President Akufo-Addo’s donation aims to bridge the technological gap in the university’s offices, enhancing the work environment and productivity of staff and students.

In September 2021, President Akufo-Addo cut the sod for the construction of phase two of the university, a US$60 million project funded by the Government of Ghana with support from the People’s Republic of China. After the special congregation, President Akufo-Addo commissioned the newly built facility, which houses the school of midwifery and nursing. This state-of-the-art edifice is the largest of its kind in West Africa.

The school of midwifery and nursing is a testament to the President’s commitment to investing in Ghana’s healthcare and education infrastructure. President Akufo-Addo’s support for UHAS has been instrumental in positioning the institution as a leading science-focused university in the country.

The university’s management praised the President for his vision and leadership, acknowledging the positive impact of his initiatives on the education sector. Through this donation and his ongoing support, President Akufo-Addo has demonstrated his dedication to empowering institutions like UHAS to drive Ghana’s development and progress.
